How Chris Met Bill

As remembered by Chris Webb…Many years ago, at the end of an outdoor summer concert with my 7-piece funk band, Das Pintos, I met Bill’s wife Allison when she handed me a cold beer. Allison could not stop talking about how great a trumpet player Bill was and how I should invite him to jam with the band. Turns out, Bill is a pretty good trumpet player and a fantastic person with a passion for beer. We became great friends, brewed beer together, quit our day jobs and started Newburyport Brewing Company.

Our Philosophy

Can Do

As the first brewery to can our entire line of beers in Massachusetts, we became one of the top 10 fastest growing breweries since prohibition in year one. Since 2012, our beers have won awards and our brewery is regularly included in top lists for beer sales in the state and country. But that stuff isn’t really that important to us. What is? Being able to do what we love every day of the week, and provide our community with the same sense of enjoyment that we get out of beer, music and being around friends.

our Motto

“YEAT!” Say It With us

Nobody really knows the true history of the “Yeat” colloquialism, but if you ask some locals, you’ll probably get some very different, very colorful takes. Some might say it came from an old naval battlecry, or the clipper shipyards. Over time, it morphed into a local slang. For us, it’s celebratory. Like “Cheers” or “Salut”.

We invite you to say it, sing it, and yell it with us. “Yeat!”
