Last week at World Beer CupSM, Plum Island Belgian White took home a bronze medal in the Belgian-Style Witbier category. Gold, silver and bronze awards in the competition’s 96 beer-style categories were presented May 6, 2016 during the World Beer Cup award ceremony at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Often referred to as “The Olympics of Beer Competitions”, World Beer CupSM is a bi-annual competition open to all brewers all over the world. World Beer Cup winners were selected by an international panel of 253 beer judges from 31 countries. The 2016 World Beer CupSM saw an impressive field of 6,596 entries from 1,907 breweries in 55 countries.
We couldn’t be more excited to win an award at such a large and prestigious competition. Plum Island Belgian White is our take on a traditional Belgian wit, with its blend of citrus and coriander which add complexity to the lightly-hopped ale. Light and refreshing, it is a perfect beer for the spring and summer months ahead.
Presented by the Brewers Association, the World Beer CupSM has been held every other year since 1996, to celebrate the art and science of brewing by recognizing outstanding achievement. For more additional information, visit the World Beer Cup website.
